To play, you need to create a manager and an associated club. And that's the problem. The initial setup was superb, and the tutorial was fantastic, but FM Player is notoriously slow. With so many options on the screen, from team pages to league pages to player pages, the prompt to search for those options takes about a minute per team or league and there's no way to speed that up. The result is that, with the game unresponsive, you have to just give up and try again. After that, I found the game to be playable enough. All sorts of improvements have been made, including the ability to attach custom news articles and web pages to teams or players. The new system for managing away results, which lets you see the matchday squad sheet and be able to organise substitutions, is also great.
