What exactly do you want Do you want a bootable Snow Leopard installer (10.6.3) or do you want a bootable installation of Snow Leopard that is upgraded to 10.6.8 These are two different things. There are no downloadable .dmg files to do either. You start with a functioning 10.6.3 Snow Leopard DVD or a functioning installation of Snow Leopard on a hard drive.

What would I do without TidBITS! I recently ordered a Mac Mini because it will come with Snow Leopard installed instead of Lion. In doing so I will also be making the leap from Tiger. As a chronic late adopter I wanted to avoid Lion because it doesn't support Rosetta, something I learned from TidBITS. I'm not a power user and my PPC software serves me well. If I boot from a startup disk that has 10.6.8 installed, according to my research it will boot. If I try to boot from anything earlier it will not. If I had an old mac with 10.6.8 installed I could clone that disc. So I assume these grey 10.6.4 install DVD did not come with the iMac of unknown year, or make or model. I just received an old Imac from a family member running os x 10.6.8. I'd like to do a factory reset, but no matter WHAT I do during startup the computer won't go into Recovery mode. I've tried pretty much every key combo I can find but no matter what it just starts normally. I'm currently using a Windows wired keyboard. I also tried using a wireless Windows keyboard but nothing changed. I don't know what to do. I don't have access to any OS disks that may have come with the system. 10.6.8 is snow leopard. You can buy a Snow Leopard disk from Amazon for $20 but otherwise you will just have to roll the dice on finding a Snow Leopard .ISO/DMG online that you can burn to a Dual-Layer DVD as an install disk.
