OBD II regulations are an enhanced version of the OBD standard. The SAE J1979 OBD standard has been developed in line with the ISO OBD standard for Europe and the SAE J1979 OBD standard for the USA, specifically to deal with the issues that arise with the more complicated emissions-related emissions, such as nitrous oxide, fuel vapour, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons. It also contains requirements for the testing of emissions in special vehicles and for the safety requirements for aftermarket emissions-related diagnostic systems. The use of the term SAE J1979 for the standard is now accepted in many countries, including Europe. Subsequently, the SAE J1979 OBD standard has been revised to further improve its functionality. The most recent version of the standard is SAE J1850, which is a revision of the SAE J1979 standard.
The OBD II standard specifies that the engine computer will store data on various components, such as fuel, oil pressure, voltage, and the like. This data can be used for a wide range of purposes. It can be a record of when, how, and for how long a service was done, or it can be used to diagnose the problem with the component.
In addition, the organization publishes a monthly 'MEP list' that details non-standard PIDs across different manufacturers. The MEP list is available to members at a reasonable cost. Note that the MEP list is not the same as the ETI scan codes database, and the services of each organizations are separate.
The SAE J1979 OBD PIDs and service codes are divided into 5 groups:
Group 1 (OBD parameter groups 1 through 29)
Group 2 (OBD-II External Data Exchange)
Group 3 (OBD-II Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs))
Group 4 (OBD-II Freeze Frame View)
Group 5 (OBD-II Display or Monitor)
Originally, I did not want to include the Warband Script Enhancer. (http://www.far-east.de/wse/what_wse.html) But, since M&B Warband uses the same original M&B Script engine as M&B: Warband, I decided to include it. It also allowed me to finally make some changes to the online multiplayer system in the Warband game. 827ec27edc
